As soon as we can relax federal regulations to allow ALL of our U.S. residents to obtain commercial driving licenses the "driver shortage" will no longer be an issue and .20 cents per mile becomes an average wage, this BAD company thread will really become interesting.

Let me put it this way....I drove for a LOT of companies in 25 years on the road---USA Truck was the ONLY one I walked out of orientation on. Just a complete and total unorganized, mess with too many "rules" and micro-managing that they were promising. But that was 16 or 17 years ago...perhaps they've changed. NOT!Bumper, Canned Spam and Voodoo Pyg Thank this.

although 4 years is an "amount of time" in the business, to me, at over 35 years, your time in, is simply not enough for me to take you seriously and you are retired as well. when you got into this business 4 years ago, did you think it would be a cake walk?
did you have a previous job/career where you were catered to?
in this industry one must be on the constant watch for EVERYTHING, including any and ALL warnings and information, to stay away from X company.
to me, you simply cannot bash a company having so little time in. there were/are circumstances that prevailed in YOUR particular situation, that we are not privy to. nor you as well!
it is not uncommon for there to be either no freight, or not enough freight to cover every driver in all areas. many times, the areas are saturated with drivers and it is a first come, first served basis, not a "golden knee pad" thing.
we have all been there at one time or another, or MANY TIMES in our career.
yes, it bothers one to not get the miles, but the old saying, "pay your dues" prevails here, and go on with out complaints, till something better comes along...and then too..not all that glitters is better!!
otherwise, you would have stayed in the business and moved on to another company, than to retire and rant. -
Celedon was trying to purchase USA and it didn't go thru. I sure wish they did, that way 2 low paying outfits would have gonne out of biz.

then too, whenever one company buys out another, maybe not jobs get cut, but expenses surely do. like if both companies have a repair garage within a certain radius, one gets closed up to save money, but this puts a strain on the opened one, and drivers as well and they sit longer for repairs.
i have seen this happen with my former employer, buying out another, they closed up several shops that were with in the same city or state!! -
Same thing happened to me when I started.
Swift accidentally locked me in a tow yard for 2 days. At least this guy had a bathroom lol -
I carry a master key in my truck...opens any gate I need to get through. Dispatch knows this, and upon informing them of the situation I let them know I will be cutting the lock in 30 minutes unless someone gets here to unlock it before then. I've never had to act upon that threat, in part because they know I don't tolerate BS.
Granted, I may not cut the lock if I could simply cut a link of chain, but I sure as hell ain't sitting there 2 hours (let alone 4 days) waiting. I might even be inclined to replace the lock with one of my own if I DID cut the lock...wouldn't want to leave the yard unsecured, you know...
