True I swear. And I thank you for your empathy. For awhile I was sitting in my truck assessing how much food and water I had on board...in between planning a public flogging for that miserable dispatcher.

Getting locked in behind a gate happens sometimes. It's aggravating and it's usually the result of somebody not paying attention. but it happens.
What I find the absolute worst is your dispatcher's attitude toward the whole thing. His actions are inexcusable.
If it had been one of our drivers locked in...especially before a holiday weekend...I would have made sure that the driver got out. If that took driving down there with bolt cutters or a cutting torch then that's what I would have done. Most people would do the same.
And if I had a dispatcher who did what yours did he'd be looking for a new job.

You are right. I started the conversation with said dispatcher with a polite qualcomm msg asking for a contact to get someone to come unlock the yard. When the holidays were over and my usual dispatcher returned I told him the whole sad story. He declined the public flogging request but I never even got an apology. Nuff said.

MidwestResident, Mr Ed and REO6205 Thank this.

If it's padlocked with a chain, I'd climb the fence and walk to a hardware store to buy a pair of bolt cutters.

Hey, nothing was broke, only cut. :D

SADLY & UNFORTUNATELY, there are 2 legged creatures impersonating human beings that flat out do not care about other people in any shape, manner or form whatsoever.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Bolt cutters ought to be carried in the truck anyway. How else do you remove a bolt seal? Just because a shipper puts one on doesn't mean the receiver will definitely have the means to cut it off...and I hate delays.

I say this is a BS story, nobody at USA Truck would have you sit locked in anywhere, and as for the truck going into the shop, for a few days I have never known them to not put a driver in a hotel. Now if your truck was going to be in the shop for 2 weeks like mentioned in the story, they would put you on a bus, and get you to another truck. Now if you refuse to go get another truck which they are offering to you, then of course you would be responsible for the hotel expense.
