We have many flatbeds coming through. But like REO said you are in and out as maintenance loads are not part of the production of the warehouse and are handled by the maintenance dept.

And this is what I will never understand. Holding the driver for product counts. All the driver can do is give the number to the claims department, which the receiver (not just WM) should have. It's not like the driver can run up to the store and pick up whatever is short to cover it.....
Get the product off the truck, let the driver go and count it at your convenience...

The reason why is because most perishable commodities like fresh meat and produce are paid after the freight is delivered most of the time. Fresh meat loads are bought by weight. Just because the BOL say's 30000 lbs of meat doesn't mean that's whats really on there. It has to be verified and inspected, then WM pays the vendor in most instances. We reject many produce loads everyday if they don't pass inspection upon delivery. We can do this because the freight has not been paid for, same goes for fresh meat if it's coming directly from the vendor. What's going to happen is after a driver leaves and freight is rejected? It will be held and the vendor will be sent to pick up the rejected load from what I'm hearing.

Well, it's your product to dispose of. You ordered it. Just because it's not paid for does not mean the driver should have to wait until you decide what to do. It would be one thing if drivers got paid hourly. I'll spend as much time waiting as you want then. Since we get paid cpm (for the most part) it goes back to what can the driver do? You reject it and refuse to unload your product. Ok, now the driver is caught in the middle having to wait for WM and broker/company to negate rates. All the while not getting paid. Receiver can let the driver go, and reject product on their own time. Arrange for a reload later.

That's exactly what I just said. No need for you to wait. If a load is rejected, the vendor will have to make arrangements to pick up the load and do with it what they want. No fair for you drivers to be stuck in the middle that's for sure.

I once arrived 4 minutes early to the dot. Dropped the mail trailer directly into a very specific numbered spot in the Springfield Mass US Post Office Sort Facility.

Walked in gave boss man the packet for the trailer and asked to get it signed my copy please.

He says... I did not tell you to do anything youse. You will wait.

Me: No. Instructed by my dispatch to drop trailer in spot such a such. Sign please your trailer now.

He purples towards red a moment. Then commences yelling. I aint signing *&^% etc.

When his speech patterns started breaking up or down into gibberish and spittle along with more primitive air problems for him I knew we had a barbarian here. Fixing to go postal right quick.

He's still yelling to this day. I was banned and told the GTFO.

Adios. I was 4 minutes early. Booming the state police at the line at 119 was worth it.
