It's very simple. If your a company driver you agree to the employees rules and company policies or go elsewhere.
If your an independent contractor of any sort than you agree to the contract between you and the company or business paying you. -
In a nutshell, it is legal for the company to track you, if you give them permission. And agreeing to micro points tos gives them permission, even if you did not specifically sign anything.
Scottyboy Thanks this. -
The truck I'm issued has all the tracking technology installed the company needs for the where abouts of freight and location of their equipment
It stays there. -
What ZVar said-both posts.

First I've heard of this. I assume you can provide some sort of proof?

There is a form of big data and any one can be tracked in several ways. Our police cruisers in town carry cameras that record everything in real time so if I had one behind me going to walmart or something it already has captured my face and will recognize it should someone in government care to make a 3D scan of my face for whatever reason to put into a file somewhere.
My smart phone is text only and it sits in one spot for weeks at a time. It's nothing on it worth being tracked on. Since I don't do voice calls anymore.
You can look up Google and maybe get deep enough into it to discover maybe your smart phone's location history has been a pattern inside the net for a long time.
It really does not bother me anymore. One time my boss called me half way home and asked me to get back to the rock and reposition three mckession trailers more onto the cement strip. A small job. But one that was a bit a rub because I am off and those trailers and company was not my problem at that hour, not with a wife fixing roast beef... so I went back and put the three trailers onto the cement with the landing gears. Rain was coming on so... that small task probably saved him alot of headache. -
I think they way the law sees this is no, nobody can put a tracking device on your cell phone without your permission. If they require it though and you refuse, I think the law will side with them if they decide to terminate you.

They can track the phone they provide and pay for all they want. My phone is my personal property.... They want to use my toothbrush too?
