I've noticed that you can't get hired at a company that pulls doubles if you don't have doubles experience. So how do you get doubles experience if they won't even look at your application if you don't have experience

Give Falcon Transport a try as they pull double 53' vans and 48' flats across I-90 in Indiana. Also try Central Transport as they pull double pups and 53' doubles.

DubT Thanks this. -
You just found a couple of companies that want doubles experience. I would guess that those companies are better than most since they can be picky. There are companies out there that will hire you without the experience. I got a job pulling triples and never even pulled doubles. You have to have faith in yourself and just take it easy.

Central Transport will hire you to pull double pups, just get your endorcement, it's just a test, have your hazmat, too. The double 53' is something you'll have to work into. I hear they are bring them back so get on board now and with a few years experience you could be doing that. I hear some of them where touching 6 figures!! Working LOONNNGGG hours .(legal of course
).

Fed-Ex Ground, those guys will hire anybody, and the only tricky thing about pulling doubles is finding parking spots

Since you are K'Zoo, you could try Stone Transport (out of Saginaw). They pull Doubles (gravel trains), hauling construction materials, garbage, etc. Having the gravel train exp. can open a few doors for you too. GasHauler is right, a lot of Cos. that pull doubles don't expect you to have doubles exp., because they will train you how to do it. Just my $.02, hang in there!

Making and breaking them can be a real pain, too. You have 4 pieces to pretrip and putz around with. (doubles) and that means 4 times the chance that something is broken. You've got to pay more attention to some other details, but nothing to big to worry about. Like everything else the more you do it the easier it gets.DubT Thanks this.

This site is GREAT! Thaat's some good info. I've decided to take that test. I just recently got my hazmat endorsement. I'm sseing with this economy you have to be as vesatile as you can be. I've been told that my company is considering pulling doubles, so I'm taking the test to be ready. I want to be ready for what ever comes up anywhere. It's all about who's payin that green and who's the most stable.

Good luck with the test and in the future.
