    They put the "heavy" stuff on the bottom, then "sprinkled" the load with aluminum on top,,,oh yeah, been there,,

    I hope you are joking, but then again emoticons might help.

    If not then have you ever hauled metal? Look at the relatively small size of a steel coil. That ONE coil makes for a maximum gross weight load.

    Sure, there's plenty of air amidst all that scrap metal. But if it were all melted down to a solid chunk of metal, how many equivalents of steel coils are we looking at? Quite a few.

    If there are a lot of cast pieces that would add up. Just think of the weight of a slack adjuster or s-cam.
