Wrong.
Actually, there is a 3408E. They have HEUI injectors in them and an ECM. I know someone that put one in a truck. It came from a D9R.

Well if I ever do I'll write a song about it so you can get another tattoo

14 and he most likely lost the other 4 on the highway
Oxbow Thanks this. -
i used to have a road ranger 9 speed where the shift pattern was 1-2-3-4 split 5-6-7-8-9 basically you skipped 5th for a normal 9-10 speed and went to where 6th would be on a 10 speed. i always wanted to put a 13 speed splitter box on the back of it would have made basically a 15 with your splits on the top. you could call that a 14 if you didn't count low.
-
Thanks. What truck was that in? I guess for my idea I just need to get to either a true 14 speed or even a 15 speed with a low that would have been mostly unused during normal driving.
-
it was a 95 freightliner fld.
i don't know if they ever came in that shift pattern from the factory with a splitter box. but i always kinda wanted to put a 13 speed back half on the back of that 9 speed would have made kinda a cool transmission
then a standard 13 speed
you could combine the two to come up with 14. label 1st as low/4 H/L
so you would have
R/R...........1/5 h/l...........3/ 7 h/l
lo/4 h/l.......2/6 h/l...........8 h/l
would be 14
here is what a normal 15 looks like
one thing to remember is its not technically the total number of available gear selections its the number of sequential gear selections.
every 13 speed technically has 15 forward gears but if you shift to 6 hole in a 10 speed pattern or what i call the wtf gear. it kinda falls between where 3rd and 4th would be.
you may play with some old twin stick combinations and see if you can come up with a 14 speed somewhere but most likely your chasing something madeup to start with.Last edited: Sep 18, 2017

Thanks EZrider! You are correct, it is made up. They said they just pulled the number out of thin air when I asked them.
I think I've made the decision to go with the pattern of a 15 double over deep reduction as that's what my dad had in his CL9000 when I was growing up. Plus it makes a cool looking pattern on the knob anyway.
Thanks for posting the song, guess I should have done that before. It's hard to believe that they just wrote that song recently because it has such an old soul.wore out Thanks this. -
That is not correct, there is a 3408E.snowman_w900, SAR, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.
