UPS O/O getting $1.20/mile

You are right but cheap freight screws everyone but the big corporations you run it for. 1.20 a mile is disgrace according to nation wide trucking company figures from 2016 it cost at least $1.41 to run a truck with a driver.So how would a contractor make any money? That rate is insanity at its finest. I sometimes feel sorry for people who think just because they have a paid for diesel guzzling old ### truck its ok to take cheap freight. If that truck breaks they won't even have the capital to replace it. They are essentially paying to say they pull for UPS LMAO...

During the holidays when the mail gets busy, Landstar gets some of the UPS freight. I did a couple when I was slow, they paid around $1.55 all miles. This was a few years back. Like I said, only did a couple and that was it.

 

I did it last year. I forget the exact numbers and not home to look it up but it was something like 850 for up to 350 miles. 1.80 a mile if the run ran over that 350. That's to the truck after my carriers cut. We have some guys still doing it and they are in the 1.80 a mile range getting basically all the miles a team can run. Not a bad gig.

 

so if was to take my truck to ups freight what will I be getting a mile

 

I did it last year for 800 a day plus 2.00 mile over 400 miles and tolls paid . I never did over 300 miles or worked over 10 hrs . Just saying, but I agree this 1.20 a mile crap is robbery.

 

I did a Landstar UPS run last year. Picked up 5 miles away from my home and dropped at the same location. This roundtrip run was 2k miles and I got $4k. Even this year Landstar already has been offering the same deal. I am pretty sure this year in Nov-Dec you will be able to do UPS loads for $2.50 - $3.00

 

They'll pay a lot more than $2.50-$3.00 a mile but only when they have some left over that won't cover. That Amazon, UPS freight this holiday season ought to be some really lucrative opportunity this year with the implementation of EOBR. I hope everyone takes full advantage of that. It'll probably be the last time we're able to do so before the rates are depressed again.
