That's typical for many places (reefer and dry) except most don't punctuate it like this. Go in with your ducks in a row, you'll generally not have any issues.
Or don't do their loads and that's more for me.

We used their equipment. Were an O/O team. My buddy's truck. My company trainer said he would make up a name (Jose Cuervo) & pretend to be negotiating with said guy. He'd negotiate $75-$100 lumper fee from the company itself unload truck and cash the COMCHECK. Tax free free $$$ ;D

Wow that is over the top ....
I would just turn around and leave if they try to tell me I have to pay for pallets... get bent.
If I am going to arrive late or even cutting it close, and I know you are going to tell me I have to pay you... I just won't arrive at all...
I wonder if whoever uses Americold to keep their stuff cold knows how well drivers are treated at their shop. And wonder why so many carriers will flat out refuse to do any repeat business with them.
This is even beyond the shenanigans wal mart does.JimmyWells and heartlessangel7 Thank this. -
For "$100" late fee on a "separate check" for even "a minute late" how much you want to bet the clocks run fast in that office several times a day. Crooks!
How much you wager the "office gal" that wrote that has an issue with checking in drivers and getting her work done? You know it takes away from her cell phone time and time spent in other duties outside the office.Teivel VP, Sipesh, Gearjammin' Penguin and 2 others Thank this. -
I find it astonishing how much crap some drivers will accept. Seems there is no limit. Just don't let Americold in on wal mart new policy of giving you a fine should you arrive "too early"...

I like the grocery warehouses that have security like Ft Knox and then tell me the lumpers are not their employees, they are people from the neighborhood that work on the dock. You know like Ft Knox has homeless people from beside the base wander in and walk around the place doing odd jobs. You know how you can be sure IRS is corrupt, they've never heard of this scheme to avoid taxes and if they had heard of this scheme they investigated and found it legitimate. Not one truck driver, trucking company, or shipper ever asked the IRS to investigate this money-making arrangement. No, really.izifaddag, WildTiger1990, bentstrider83 and 2 others Thank this.

The clocks run on-time, it's LoShanda and Shaniqua that gossip and bad-mouth every person they know until 5 minutes after the hour while 43 truck drivers wait in line, at the window, since 2 hours before their appointment.

I've recently switched to tankers from dry van. No demands of lumpers but some customers require you to unload your product, mine is hazmat, in a full rubber sauna suit in August, or they load you while you wait in the break-room and it takes them 5 hours, just "15 more minutes" at a time.
Tanker loads, in my limited experience, are always max gross loads. Medium rolling hills can easily add 2 hours to your driving time. But, the good news is almost every customer is happy to see you arrive and they don't treat you like a new cold sore just because you brought them what they ordered.kemosabi49 and izifaddag Thank this. -
