After lurking these forums for a while I applied to Millis, unfortunately I live out of their hiring area (DE)....Haven't really thought of a 2nd option...

I'm interested in CFI as well but can't find information a lot of info about them. Does CFI run their own program or is it contracted out to schools?

Putting the pay, bad meals and 3 to a room while you train (Sarcasm) all aside does CRST's school in Iowa run a decent training program to get your CDL? Seems like all I've read was just the whining about bad food, hotel rooms and the 12cpm, and not their CDL school itself which is the only thing that concerns me.

I never been in an accident and have one ticket from 5 years ago...no arrest record and stable employment for the past 7 years.... however I haven't been employed on the books in the past 3 months which maybe an issue for some companies

    Thank you

I think CFI uses crowder college in Neosho Mo. They will get you there. Have you thought about prime?

Do you know if housing is provided apart of your contract with CFI, Jim?

And yeah I haven't given Prime much thought because my focus was on Millis

Prime is a bit picky, Jim. That 3 years unaccounted for might be a deal breaker for the O/P. CFI is quite lenient, it seems. A guy on another forum, Big Scott, thought his background would keep him from trucking altogether, and he's actually quite happy with CFI, being solo for a few months now.

The thing about CRST is the teaming that turns most people off. However, some actually prefer teaming. I did it for a year with FedEx/LineHaul (doubles) and hated it. Money was good, though!!

You might consider Roehl or Dutch Maid out of Ohio.

Guy i went to cdl school with started at Dutch maid and made really good money, but its labor intensive as the drivers shop unload their Pepperidge farms loads. He lived it while he was there but left due to home life obligations needing him home more

As a guy that's in cdl school with 2 days left before my state exam, I will tell you my experience. The school will only teach you the basics. You get out what you put into it. I came here to get my cdl and some otr experience, by any means necessary. If you hear stories about bad food, hotel rooms, etc. Then make sure you take some extra money, blankets, towels, hygiene, etc..You will see the negative whiners I'm sure, stay away and just stay focused. While you're there

I'd go with CRST personally. They have awesome beach front property on the Atlantic. Ya know, for those rest breaks after a month of driving.

Only bad is... its Jersey, but close to AC...
