I'm on elogs and easily make my money, get my loads on the ground, and get home. Sure occasionally I could use an extra 15 mins to get where I truly want to be, but I deal with it. I however do not run auction cars where it can take forever to load because you can't find cars. I run a semi dedicated lane, it's not dedicated but good enough for me.

You could still log as off duty with an e-log from my understanding.

We have been on them (as a fleet) for over 3 years, IF I could go back to paper, I wouldn't. Way to many guys in this industry have terrible penmanship and it was taking my safety gal way too long to digest and dissect what was being recorded.

As far as loading time, I am sure there are "some" times when off-duty gets fudged a bit here or there, but we keep a pretty good eye on it, and to be honest, it sticks out like a sore thumb when you look at the history of said driver as a repeatable pattern.

I, nor my drivers have noticed any lost time/revenue due to ELD's HOWEVER, as most of you know we also aren't a typical auto haul operation, so the loading unloading is much less than average.

I think the statement "Depends on the operation, (and I will add driver) has a lot to do with it. Remember also that unlike a door slammer, we load and unload ourselves, so we can "to a point" control more of that time than a lot of the industry, Jmho.

My Uncle runs produce I can see where they would have an issue but us...like was said above...we control load and unload to a certain extent. That's one of the things I love about hauling cars. Most times they are waiting for the cars on your load. Hit it and get it!!! No waiting on a shipper or receiver that has been beaten down by a bunch of drivers before you that are in a bad mood. E-logs have been great for me. You can't do much manipulating on your 14 but you can save some of your 70... Just don't doddle.
