Hi I am a local diver I do food deliveries to local restaurants home every night and I get pay flat rate at 322 daily 5 days a week with the possibility to work a 6 day... most weeks I put 60 hours plus I take home between 1000-1300.... I have to go upstairs and downstairs to put all the products like Sysco pretty much but it's not Sysco... recently I applied to pmtg they said I can make 70000 my first year with no car hauler experience after I get faster unloading and loading cars I can easily make over 100000 home on the weekends.. I always been a local driver so I want some opinions of hitting the road now and with this company.. my goal for the future is buying a truck I also want to do car hauling just don't know if it's worth it to leave my current job to do this job at pmtg thanks in advance

I'd be surprised if you did those numbers at pmtg honestly.
I'm not sure who all runs that area someone will chime in. I know Virginia runs east coast and Moore. I've heard horror stories on home time with Virginia. -

PMTG. No way you're gonna make anywhere near that on E-logs. I ran otr with them and they didn't care if you picked up a load of Mercedes out of Dundalk/Baltimore early Sunday morning and delivered it in Denver on Monday. Part of the reason they can claim those # is from guys working like 90+ hours a week. Logging 15 minutes to load and unload. They cut driver's pay back in 2009 significantly and now charge you $500 for every damaged carLast edited: Oct 1, 2017
crb Thanks this. -
I would first make sure you really want a job change before you go anywhere. While it is a good job eventually, it can suck bad at first and you probably will take a pay cut at first. I would want to verify "easily make $100,000" and get home on the weekends with some drivers who are doing it at that company. If you are still determined to haul cars check with every company that hauls cars thru your area before you go with any because there can be a huge difference in pay and benefits.
Do you want to sleep in a hotel or sleeper? Do you need insurance for you and the wife and kids? Can you handle being gone all week or would you rather be home every few days? There is a wide variety of jobs in carhaul and what is important to me may not be to you, but you need to know up front what the company you go with plans to offer.
I am not familiar with the east coast carhaul companies, but down south of you the union companies originally set the wage standard. Now several of the Non-Union companies pay as much and pay good benefits also, so don't settle for less than top pay(once you know what you are doing). If Cassens or Jack Cooper is in your area talk to them before you go anywhere as they are both good companies. The Teamster pension may not be as good as it once was but it doesn't cost you a dime and you won't beat the Teamster insurance anywhere. That said there are comparable non Union jobs out there now, but not at all companies.
