Boy was today a full blown cluster f***. Started out early to get a jump on the day, I had a plan. First problem was i couldnt find my truck at the shop. It wasn't where they said it would be, instead it was parked .1 of a mile away, backed into a corner and not visible at all. Strike one. Then, I stopped for lunch at the Petro in Raphine, VA. The grub here is usually prettt good but today everything tasted like it was two days old and microwaved. Strike two. Now I'm ready to leave, but as I come out the door I notice that the entrance is completely gridlocked...what the hell, I'm thinking. Well, turns out there was a multitude of issues going on simultaneously. A bad wreck on the on ramp...how does that even happen? Concurrent with this, an idiot who couldn't read a sign, tried to come in the parking lot the wrong way and promptly hit another truck, blocking everyone in. Two and a balf hours later they were still sorting it out. Strike three. So im going to sleep and will leave here tomorrow morning at 0300 to head for Baltimore.

"It's just trucking!"
RStewart, cnsper, Broke Down 69 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Your looking at this in a less than positive way.
While your truck was located in a spot that you did not expect it to be, it was still there, fixed up and ready to go.
On a sunday afternoon, you may have indeed encountered some left overs, you did get to eat a meal.
The cluster in the road driveway may have been a good thing. The driver that collided with the other truck could have been coming in as you were going out.
Hey thats trucking for ya.RStewart, Highway Sailor, Broke Down 69 and 4 others Thank this. -
The Petro in Raphine there always has issues with the fuel island and getting in/out.

Seem to remember that place was under construction for some time. doing a lot of remodeling. they didnt fix the fuel islands. The streakin beacon was a long time building.

The ta exit 41 on 95 in Maryland. Getting to the fuel island is crazy, then getting up to fuel is time consuming and then waiting for the truck in front of you to finally leave can be very agervating. Google it.G13Tomcat and Broke Down 69 Thank this.

Long day. Pipe was being loaded directly from the ship today and it was loaded all wrong so I ended up waiting for three hours to get my load on deck. That has messed up my whole weeks schedule, believe it or not. Looking like I may not make it back to Raphine tonight, probably end up at the Beckley Travel Center where I will craft another one of my award winning fictional short stories in an attempt to get my week back on track. Funny how bad days seem to run in bunches, ain't it. No sense whining, time to work even harder.

At least you're not stuck in Florida dragging trees out of the canal and fixing other stuff outdoors. I've been watching this load on the board for the past week and a half, $350 to go 300 miles tarped. I want to see how much longer it will stay before someone is foolish enough to take it, or the broker finally breaks and offers more.
On the plus side, the split system AC unit we installed is working wonders. Inside the truck stays a cool, dry 78 degrees all day and night. We usually run it off of a generator, but it's running off a GFCI outlet from the house. We spent around $1500 on the whole setup. It's even got heat for when we go back home, but I'll probably just use the sleeping bag. Man, I miss the snow.Lepton1, Broke Down 69 and G13Tomcat Thank this.
