So here recently I decided I wanted to drive trucks. My job sucks, and I just wanted a change in scenery with a new chapter in life. So I'm 1000% sure I want to persue trucking but I'm afraid to leave everything behind bills, apartment etc. my monthly bills come out to about $750 a month. If there's anyone out there who could give me advice to jump this hurdle or which schools are good over the others it would be greatly appreciated. By the way I live in Nashville TN.
Need advice for cdl schools

I went to a school in Murfreesboro back in '09 called United Truck Driving School. I feel like it was a good investment. They taught me as much as can be expected in a 3week course and the price seemed reasonable (I payed up front, in full).
Here is their website Truck Driving School Murfreesboro TN | United Truck Driving School . I have no idea how much they charge now days, but it was about 30% cheaper than the big national-chain schools in the area. -
Thanks man I'll look into but I really don't have the up front money.

I believe they offer financing options

R.E. West in Lebanon has free cdl school and no contract to sign. It's a decent company to get started with. Their main freight is hauling hot water heaters out of A.O. Smith Company in Ashland City. Here's some R.E. West pictures.
Another option is Roehl Transport. They pay $500.00 a week while in their cdl school, then at graduation you switch to driver pay.
Sygma Network hires drivers with only a cdl permit. You run teams with an experienced driver and they give you 90 days to get the full cdl. They haul a lot of Sysco freight which is foodservice.
Be prepared for a drug test on day one, wherever you go. Roehl does hair follicle.Last edited: Sep 7, 2017

is greatly appreciated brother. I will check them out and give you guys an update. Thanks so much guys.Chinatown Thanks this. -
Find a trucking company first.. decide what it is that you want to do (Vans, Flatbeds, Tanks etc) then contact these companies to see what THEY consider and will accept as training, then you at least have something to use to see if the schools should even BE considered.
Titanium86 Thanks this. -
Just got a call from R.E. West and setup an interview for Thursday in Ashland city. The woman I spoke with said flatbed training isn't available right now but I could do dry van until there's a flatbed opening. She said there should be an opening within 6 months or so. Thanks to ChinaTown for the information. It was greatly appreciated man.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Basically you want the student-to-instructor ratio to be as low as possible. 1 instructor per 5 students is good, 1 instructor per 25 students is bad.

Does Sygma hire in Houston TX?
