Lol yes, South African for that matter too. I work for South African cowboys.

I love to wind them up and let them go. Something about a swearing dude with a crazy accent will always be funny.

Hey, I resent that Volvo remark back there someplace. I drove a 2000 640 that had a series 60 and one factory size straight pipe behind the cab and I double dare you to find a louder or better sounding set of pipes anywhere, lol. I agree with most of the common sense remarks except when your going around or through Neosho Mo. That town deserves what they get and then some.

Series 60 is a great motor. I got an old day cab with one in it. It will stomp all over a d13 and anything new.

I'd throw one in a glider any day. We have another series 60 with a bunch of work done to it. It sounds like a jet taking off, I was driving it bobtail and it will throw you back in the seat. That truck has seen redicilous speeds.

I loved mine, out was the later model 14 litre with the split hp rating and turned up for pulling a grain wagon. There wasn't anything that could take it off a stop light. It had a great Rockwell 10 speed that shifted smooth as silk too.

I live in a small rural Nebraska town and although there are no jake brake signs,, it seems a great number of truckers don't care. My house is on a "busy" residential corner. Trucks come off an overpass, drive one more block before they must then turn right. Then one more short block before there is another right turn. I get to hear the jake brakes as they come off the overpass, and again as they reach the first corner, and again as they get to my corner! Three times in the equivalent of four short blocks. Now repeat this several times a day (and night)...as many as a couple dozen.. WHY?I

I have visited with the police, but they won't bother as there are no enforcement/penalty policies for the law. However, even that should not be unnecessary

I agree with you. It seems that modern truck drivers haven't learned how to drive without Jakes. It's a pity. They haven't yet learned how to drive their truck.

I run across 68 in Maryland quite often these days, it fascinates me when I'm headed east into Cumberland. I leave the scalehouse at Finzel and begin the 13 mile ride down into Cumberland at below the posted speed of 45mph. Guys pass me like I'm sitting still going down.

And it's always the same. They sail on by, Jake brake cackling away, as I sit in the right lane, no Jake brake, just light steady pressure on the pedal, in the quiet. Then I round the bend into Cumberland and can usually see and smell the brakes from the John Force's of the world . I usually pass these types just east of Cumberland on the uphill.

I don't always go down that hill with the Jake brake off, but it's a nice way to keep the knowledge in my head if something happens to the Jake brake
