I’m sure there are some jobs out there paying those wages but many of them want you out for 3+ weeks or want much more experience then I have......if I could find a driving job for .45 I’d be all over it

And seriously what companies besides mom and pop outfits are paying over .45 cpm...

I know H&M pay 44.5 out of Omaha but that’s the most I’ve found besides heartland.

Right? With the plethora of good paying jobs in that area I can't understand why anyone would work for pay as low as 40 cpm. I ran into a guy who just left where I'm at right now for Andrus out of SLC, they started him right at 48 cpm. And that's a mini mega, put in a little legwork and get away from the Craigslist companies and I imagine it's not hard to find better than 50 cpm around there.

You mean (Plural, at least two or three of you...) to tell me that no one is paying the training wages and somewhat higher than that .50 and beyond?

Where have I been all these years? I got paid something like .48 in 2001, spouse got something like .32 bringing total gross per mile to the household (Truck) around .70 a mile. Thats... 16 years ago.

I don't understand this.... if the wages have not risen year after year however small and the costs HAVE risen then We as a Industry work force, the bedrock of the trucking Nationally at all levels are living in a negative wage environment where Drivers are already in the negative income situation....

Is it because of Immigrants being paid oh... .30 a mile? Because THEY are doing cartwheels and show overjoyful behavior at such riches relative to their home countries??

Every cheapskate company in the world offers more miles in exchange for less CPM. It is all in the recruiter tag line.

There is only 70 (non-reset) hours in the work week (I know 8 days). Most the mega service the same companies and have the same type of freight. So, on the open OTR road, your results with miles are going to be roughly the same.

However, a smaller outfit, not necessary a small outfit, might run a larger portion of dedicated freight to open contract, or load board/broker freight. This may get more miles then the usual mega. But only a small percentage more.

Point is, unless you find a total cull of a company and they do exist, CPM makes a difference.

They're based out of Idaho Falls. Not SLC. Here's 1 review. I don't see anyone making $.48 on nucor loads. Unless the rates have gone up to the better side in the past 18 months. But considering their trucks are newer. Which means payments. And the low rates around these parts.

Great company for a driver just starting out. Pay is toward the lower end for an OTR driver start out at .29 cents, after a year .32 cents. In order to bring in solid pay you must run 3000-3500 miles a week, tough to do consecutively with HOS. Resets on the road. This company gets bottom of the barrel brokered loads, those that no other company wants to go. Nice brand new equipment, certainly reflects in your paycheck too. Was not impressed with the operations manager or dispatchers. Spent 2 years with this company and lost alot of time with my family.
    Pros
    New Equipment
    Cons
    Low Pay and Horrible Loads.

Andrus does not pay .48, not sure where he got that from. If you want to go OTR, look at Schuster out of Iowa, they will start you mid 40's, but not sure if they hire out of Wyoming.

Are there any LTL carriers in your area? I do well at my LTL carrier and for all non driving I get hourly.

Very seldom have i ever looked at Craig. I look at the local news websight and the unemployment board. Craig isn't the only classifieds.

Craigslist is a element of danger, I was examining it the other night and uncovered illegal activity. I have reached the decision not to rely on craigslist for anything. It's simply not worth the risk.

I cannot understand how shameful they must feel offering a wage that was top dollar back in the freaking 80's

Im not going to waste time bashing. I have been examing wages offered by OTR companies who are apparently either buying or leasing 150,000 dollar tractors and god only knows how expensive the trailers are. And frankly the OTR drivers in Class A should simply refuse to accept such low wages. I think this industry does not have any collective sense of self awareness at just how valuable truckers, especially good truckers really are. They are so hard up to get hired they will sign anything so they can be cut loose for a while until the anchor weight of the reality of bag of rice wages sink in against a house, family, kids to feed and so forth. It wont work.

Does the company not have the balls to establish it's own brokerage or replace the poor brokerage services with something at least better? If they run in the entire USA, by crikey, there should be people able to supply freight worthy of these United States at a rate which is profitable. Need I go on?
