Checking trailer service brakes

What, they are not putting a trailer brake lever or dash handle on your rigs?

 

Put a big hammer or something on the brake pedal. Go to back trailer and open service valve. That will at least tell you your getting Air all the way back.

 

You can always have a co-worker stand in a safe spot and watch that the brake chambers are actuating when you step on the brakes.

 

Look at the angle of the stroke with the brakes set, then look at them with the trailer brakes released. Two inches on a type 30 chamber is maximum, go to YouTube and look at slack adjuster videos. I am curious as to what type of truck doesn't come with a trailer hand valve?

 

Find a midget, insert... Just kidding! We do not abuse midgets here!

I hear that more than a few outfits are now specking trucks without trolley valves. Just stupid in my book. Shows the caliber of driver they hire. Steering wheel holders.

 

yeah , not having a trailer brake handle on the dash sucks. use the weight on the pedal for service and release the trailer brakes and open both valves on the rear trailer to make sure you have air all the trough on both sides is about the best you can do by yourself.
