Guess I'm having this conversation this week. Recently our dispatcher left and things seem to be awfully slow since then.

First of all, the 100 air mile exemption works out to be roughly 115 nautical miles as defined by DOT. I tried to explain this to him that is no such thing as "permit" as it's the same for anyone. What really got me was if they stay under the limits for logging then why force the ELD at all since there's no need to log? -
The rule said the moment that any of their truck crosses that 100 air miles ratio the whole rule goes out the window and the standard rules apply thats why many companies are going full blown standard rules, only hazmat and tankers have some grey area but is for them to find a safe haven after their 10 hour driving time is up

That's how it's always been though (100/115 miles). Regardless of whether it's recorded on paper or digitally.

We all know that unless there's a weight station in your route you will never have given a bleep about it on paper logs
RERM Thanks this. -
I've always went with 115 nautical miles and have never had an issue.

I had a buddy that worked for farruggio a while back.
He said they told him 65% but then they took another 2% I think for cargo insurance or something for each load. Apparently they did not tell him that.
So really he was only getting 63%. He did not last long there...JimmyWells Thanks this. -
So which company should we be looking at? I personally know the girl from Wall St Systems here in Philly. I used to do her snow removal at her old domicile. Would of went with them instead of H&M if they would have gotten back to me sooner. I was already working for H&M by then and honestly just want to find somewhere where I can make good money and they work with my schedule being a fireman here in Philadelphia makes the days and times I can work change every week. Everyone says the rails are better but anyone have any personal experience?
