That's why they sell those "Dispatch Buster " tape recorders . When they get done telling you you "have to go " play it back for them then say "Wait a minute I'm rewinding . O.K. , now I'm pretty tired what would you suggest ? "

It is illegal in most states to tape someone without their knowledge.

Then inform the dispatcher the order is being saved for posterity prior to recording.

Maybe I'm stupid, but an owner of a fleet large or small, should be concerned with the overall conditions of their drivers. I would rather eat a late load due to a driver being tired than pay a lawsuit because the driver fell asleep and wiped out a soccer-mom and her kids.

This is what I said "What state was you a DOT officer"?
(I should of said it like this maybe,
" What state was you a Federal DOT officer in?"

Sorry, I was really tired, well still am tired:biggrin_25518:

I want to sit in on a court regarding a law suit versus company/driver and fatigue being an issue really bad.

I really would of liked being # the one of these two
    1) Taylor University accident
    2) The florida accident that killed the 7 kids in the van and grandpa died from the news.

Also I really want to interview the truck drivers, weird as it may sound I do!

The driver in the Taylor University wreck got off way too easy . http://www.journalgazette.net/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080829/LOCAL03/808290297/1002/local
He was way over on his logs and I heard drivers reported seeing him weaving for miles and they were telling him on the CB to park it . He should have spent at least 10 years in prison .

Wow I did not know he was out of prison now, I am slacking.
Maybe he will come here and talk to me :). Maybe you think? I really want to talk with him so badly or at least post here and help convince other drivers why they shouldn't run illegal etc. It might be to hard for him to discuss though, I understand.

Yeah he got lucky and I feel for the family. I believe he this is what saved him "he noted Spencer's remorse and cooperation". He probably feels really bad and I wonder if he will ever get in a tractor again.
I am sure he did not wake up and say he wanted to kill them kids, but drivers must understand the consequences they are taking when they do this.

I preach this not because i like to preach, but cause I try to get drivers to understand why you must run legal. We may not agree with all the regulations but we must follow them or else this could be any of you that are bragging about fudging the log book. I understand why you do it, I REALLY DO! But please remember it's others life you may take and you might be like Spencer and we don't want that information via the jail/prison computer.

This is not directed to you Rick but anyone reading this

I had a hot load Friday. They sent me 100 miles to the shipper. They thought I should have been there in hour and half on 55 mph. Then after the load for 185 miles they were calling or sending messages every hour or so to find out eta. Annoyed me. I could not stop for anything for the run.
