i have a friend who now works at a truck stop as a night manager, he was telling me not too long ago about a truck that had there starter go out on the cat scale, he has a 1 ton duramax pickup and he pull started the guy with his pickup.
he has actually used his personal pickup several times to help guys out. actually he used my pickup one time too...lol his truck was at my shop but i had to order parts and was going to be gone trucking all week so i let him borrow my pickup then that week a guy dropped a driveshaft in the middle of the driveway and he used my pickup to pull him out of the way. i guess he was a little reluctant to tell me about that one....lol

as far as the low bridges i know im 11'11.5 inches tall one day i was in canada and all of a sudden i come across a bunch of signs saying low bridge x'# of Meaters and signs saying for trucks over x meaters to use alternitive route bla bla bla, me not being very fluent in metric had to pull over on the side of the road and figure out that the bridge was 12' tall and i should be ok i still went very slowly under the bridge.....lol

Was the guy on the bike waiting to scale too?
4mer trucker, KillingTime and HalpinUout Thank this. -
he wanted to see if he could take his girlfriend for a ride without exceeding the gvw of the bike....
86mechanic and KillingTime Thank this. -
There's probably a poster-board in the back detailing the 11/14, 10 & Split.
He'd likely exceed the GVW of the tire first.
Fella needs to get one of those 'fat tire' bicycles.
Keep a 30-rack in the front basket and still be able to put his gal on the back.
Or a dual-front-fat-tire bike!!! Hellz yeah! Put her on the handle-bars & get a set of saddle-bags.
4mer trucker Thanks this. -
I nearly always shut down on a scale, mostly because it's courtesy, they got a lot going on in there, but mostly because I need to hear if I'm being charged at. I had just loaded outside Topeka, I stop in to scale when I notice my dog barking. At the same time I see the lady working the cat waiving frantically, screaming into the window. My dog barks at anything, everthing shes a great girl I started to pull off, and then.. yeah, midgets. There on top of, on the side of my glides, a band of midgets. Literally stealing fuel by filling their little pockets with little bags. I never even gave notice or concern. So now I can't pull out because now I'm going to run over these midget people ( later I learned it's only half points) my dog is losing her stuffing, the lady in the truck stop is going nuts and I never saw anything even coming. Anyway, they just ran back in their bus, and this one guy, I swear this midget jumps off my hood, gives me two fingers, then a piece sign.. a Fri king piece sign, drives off while my dog is now so worked up, she is crapping.. everywhere. If I could describe it, maybe spastic sh''ting. All over my load notes, my bills everything. So I go in pussed up now, cause let's face it, I just got robbed by midgets and I have dog crap on me. I go in, and I'm like hey, and she says.. turn your truck off next time I tried to tell you. They come by about twice a week. So yea, turn your block down when you scale.
BigBob410 and slow.rider Thank this. -
