I never uderstood why everyone wants to put the binder in the middle of the run. I alway place the binder on one side to keep that side from twisting the other side can be held with a bar. On somthing like a counter weight I'd place a short foot long piece of 4x4 under the hook that goes toward the long side of the chain. Is servers two purposes one it keeps that end from wanting to rotate and two it keeps the binder off the load.

At the crane company where I worked it was always controlled chaos! Lol you didn't always have the same binders you left with and sometimes stopping to lube them would just get ya yelled at for slowing everyone down and sometimes you would just get a crappy binder.

I've had them try to twist a little on really long pulls but nothing so bad I couldn't hold it with my free hand.
I keep them lubed up though, to the point they are borderline messy. -
Keep them well oiled. I use gear oil and store them closed and out of the weather. I also try to hook one of the hooks directly to the trailer to keep one side from twisting. I can hold the other hook with my free hand to keep it from twisting. If I have to run a chain around a d ring I hook the binder on the very next link, that way it can't twist.

Will be interesting to see how they go after being subjected to the elements like rain, snow and dirt then we'll see how well they work

They work great. I’ve had one hanging on my open rack for 3-4 years now. I’m planning on upgrading all of my gear in the spring, and all of my snap binders will be these.
-
But they were not made in China whereas your new snapbinders are made in China.

I've always just used my winchbar to keep from twisting. With a little lube. 5/16 binders is what I always had.

Yes , that helps a lot. Some guys look after their stuff and some couldn't care less. Unfortunately we deal with a few of the second kind.
