Well, I've hauled a cold box before, kind of. One thing I've noticed so far, the dispatch side really has it together. There's a member here working for this outfit, and when I realized that the deal with @cnsper wasn't going to work out, I reached out to him. He gave me the inside, good and bad, but the one thing he stressed was how organized the dispatch side was. Being right beside them for a couple days it's very apparent that they have it pretty nailed down. They get preplans out well in advance of your unload time, giving you enough lead time to work out your next trip strategy. Now, I've done this long enough now to be aware that no place is perfect, and I've already ran into one corporate policy that makes me scratch my head a bit, but its really pretty minor and nothing i cant adapt to. I guess now I've been at this long enough to see past money, which should be pretty good here, to take in the whole picture. I love working open deck, it's a daily challenge, but the best option available to me, when I accounted for everything that really mattered, was to come back to reefer. At least I won't be out throwing iron in the middle of a Western states blizzard this winter...lol.

Just so we are clear: still alive and haven't quit. Just been busy as heck. Loving all the money I'm spending out of pocket driving back and forth across Kansas and Oklahoma. At least I get reimbursed.
Couple nights ago, I'm parked at the Hook in Edmonds, OK. 230 in the morning, and someone is knocking at my door. Half awake, look out, and see a truck idling by me, and first thought, "Great. This a hole hit me, and safety is gonna try to say it was my fault." At my door is a woman, wearing normal clothes. Thinking she's the driver I pop the door open.
"You want some company?"
"What?"
"Do you want some company?"
"Nope," and shut the door in her face. Spent the next two hours trying to go back to sleep. If I was single, and wasn't scared of what lurks in those playgrounds, maybe being up the two hours would have been worth it. But divorce and antibiotics cost way more than a lot lizard. Tomorrow, after I drop this Lowe's load here in Stillwater, OK, I'm heading for the terminal in Joplin to get a cracked windshield replaced. Here's to missing any inspections between here and Exit 4.bigred81, Highway Sailor, G13Tomcat and 4 others Thank this. -
