Read your hand book: Mine separates violations into serious and major. It outlines which violations and or combinations of them prevent you from having a CDL. #### the torpedo's full speed ahead, in your goal not your driving.

I agree with the others, you're talking too much and volunteering too much information.
Answer the questions on the applications exactly as they are asked.
    Example:
Have you ever, in your lifetime, had a license suspension? Answer : yes
Have you had a license suspension withing the last 5 yrs? Answer : no
Companies vary a lot on how questions are asked.
Have you had a DUI within the last 7 yrs.?
Have you had a DUI within the last 2 yrs.?

Forget Prime or Wil-Trans because they're not going to hire you. Start over with other companies.
Stevens Transport probably send you to school in Tampa. That's what's on their website.

Read Post #9 - he lives in Florida and has dealt with the Florida DMV.

So if I answer the question correctly then I would be saying technically yes since my license in Texas was suspended?

This whole thing is BS. As one person replying guessed it, yes, I got the ticket on my Texas license and proceeded to get my Florida license the next day while the ticket was in limbo.

I just think that it's utter BS that this stupid governmental SNAFU would prevent a company from hiring me and force me to go to a lower paying company just for the experience.

I don't see a big problem; you've had a Florida license for 16 years. Go back to the DMV and get your permit. Show the letter from Texas if they ask for it. Attend CDL school then go to work. Submit a dozen applications to trucking companies during the first week of school and take the best offer. In fact, some people submit applications before school even starts, so you can do that also. We can give you some trucking company names to try.

If you want trucking company schools, put some more applications in with companies other than Wil-Trans or Prime or Jim Palmer Trucking. Wil-Trans owns Jim Palmer Trucking.
If you decide on a private school put some apps in to companies and get some pre-hire letters to show the school. I think Freymiller hires in your area and they're a top tier company. They hire new cdl grads and put them through the "Restore Program" for further training. Submit an app and they'll call/email and let you know if they can hire you or not.

Some cdl schools have weekend classes for people that don't want to quit their job and go full time.

J&R Schugel hires there and it's a top notch company:

I do agree with you about going ahead and giving the information about Texas situation,it’s better to be honest about it while you’re still employed then try to lie and slide it by someone. Companies will work more for a honest person then someone who is dishonest and tries to slide something by them. You will see a lot of guys post on here that in there orientation that out of 10 drivers 3 were sent home most will tell you they didn’t pass the drug test but since it’s illegal for a company to give out that information it makes you think maybe some are actually let go for not being honest on there application

I just can't get past the fact you get a ticket in 2001.

You've had a Florida license for 16 years and it's never been suspended, so time to go trucking!
Best wishes; get your cdl permit and get started.
