One thing is. You're able to do the class right now. Might not be able to do it in the future. Do it while you can.
I can't help but think there is a reason they are hiring cement, when winter is coming. Cement can't do good during winter. If I were to start cement. I'd want to start in the spring. That way I might get a good six months income on record before next winter. So I'll have decent unemployment.
Yes..... You know that during summer. That cement truck is going to be working at night. It's too hot to do cement right during the day. You'll make good money, when you do. Real good.
It's really a tough choice. Don't know for sure about the cement. But geesh. I seriously doubt it as stable. Especially starting right now.
I'd still get that class done. Get that A. Then...???.... Face it. Where you live. There are plenty of trucking companies close. Many are doing dedicated runs, nightly. I've seen the runs delivering into Denver. Then back to the midwest for another trailer full. And you're in the middle of that. I do think you can do good, without going over the road, because of where you live. Yes, you have to put in your time. Get that first year in. I think it will pay off for you in the long run. You'll have a far stronger resume in the future.
Learn from the owners of the Homestake Mine. It's in low grade ore that you become filthy rich. It's not in finding a vein of gold.
Personally.... I think hiring into cement in the fall is a sucker bet. Highly likely your family is going to be on welfare to make it through the winter.

That's why I went gasoline. Everybody needs gas. Also if you can look for a company that's hauling their own product. You'll find they care a little bit more about there drivers.

If you leave periods of time blank because it was not a driving related job you will not get hired.
