I got lucky with my first driver I hired. No joke I put an ad on craigslist, he's not perfect, but he's a great driver. With any employee their will be some management you have to tend to and no one is perfect. Set standards and always do what you say. I'm very strict with things, and if he messes up he knows their will be a consequence, on the flip side if a customer messes up I've got his back. He's been with me now a year and half. Word of mouth I agree is best. Best of luck.

When you train a good one, slap some golden hand-cuffs on him and go make money.....

I will be going for the individual who is willing and able to learn. Guess I need to start looking for my next truck and trailer...
    Thanks for all the input.

Dude, get the driver lined up first, take your time to find one, maybe interview a few, or maybe ten to see what you need to learn about it. It is one of the hardest things I have to do and the first 10 or so are the hardest.

Before you buy equipment. Make sure you know all the wage and tax reports required in your state. Work compensation and additional insurance costs.
    Good luck.

Thankfully I have a solid CPA who also happens to be my mother. I am solid on my numbers as they currently sit. Offering a weekly salary in the $850 range is very affordable.

Better plan on hiring a rookie driver because anyone worth their salt wouldn't get out of bed for that kind of money.

I dont see anything wrong with his attitude. He nailed it right on the head.

Drivers think they jesus and think they can walk on water (and cant even afford a truck)
