Shop I talked to today says about 10 hours to install spring pins/ bushings and a new air dryer... Sound about right? I can do the air dryer but figure while it's in shop Id just rather have them knock it out...

halpin'...Your Popping sound 99% of the Time are your Leaf Spring Pins.

Inspect the Pins visually- Put a Small Bottle Jack Between the Spring and frame to lift the weight off the pins slightly- Grease the bejeezus out of them-

Not taking Grease? Re-Zerk- Or Time for new Pins Completely- I Did Mine this Year- Both Springs- New pins Front and Back- A few shims-New U-bolts Also Rear Hangers were Cleaned and Re-zerked- 9 hour job And I Took my Sweet Time, You May Need a Torch to Heat up those u-bolt Nuts If You ever change your springs.

Right Now- get them Greased Real Good.

little cat 500 and HalpinUout Thank this.

Yup, sounds fair to me for all 6 bushings is a day job. Are these rubber no lube or grease type?

Sounds fairly reasonable. I helped do that job on a few T8's back when I was in highschool and we were probably around 6 or so hours to do all the spring bushings if my memory serves me right. But we were "inventive" with our method. We never pulled the springs, just did it with them on the truck.

Nope. Drove out the old bushing with the new bushing. Shop had a special driver built for it. 2 guys and a BFH.

How are your leaf spring bushings? When I heard popping sounds in a turn that's what it was.

Yes it's an all day job to do the bushings. I suggest getting the greaseable ones.
