I CAN appreciate that, but to a degree it is just becoming the cost of doing business, I ALSO agree with your statement about the creeping cost of some of these things, Your right, it DOES add to the bottom line, that is why you HAVE to find a way to offset it.

I know it is different for a small fleet vs an O/O, but going to ELD's SAVED me having to add another person on the office side payroll just to sift through logbooks, fuel receipts, tolls etc.

So there is 30,000 a year right off the top that I'm NOT spending, it all depends on how you look at it!

Do you do all of your own paperwork, IFTA etc. What is your time worth at the end of every month not to have to go back and add up all of your miles for every state, (I'm not telling you, I am asking)???

Your right. I use a transportation consultant for formal items, no ifta for a few years due to intrastate only. But that could allways change. I do all my own invoicing, and no factoring, and 99.9% repair and service work.

I will tell you this if it makes any difference, just like everything else new in the 4 years we have had them they have become easier to use, more reliable, more compact, more units are being geared toward O/O's and the single truck, AND, I see the costs are starting to come down.

I understand what you are saying, AND this is just my opinion, you guys have picked the wrong fight, just from a liability standpoint ELD's are not going away, sure, you can skirt the law with a 99 truck, but for how long.

NOW, if you want MY signature on something that "could/should" be changed, then mount a fight to change the HOS, THEN you have my full attention.

You have to pick and choose your battles in life, the problem with fighting the ELD mandate is that you simply don't have the numbers, NOT EVERYBODY HATES THEM!!!!

HOS service on the other hand, I think EVERYBODY would agree they need some work,,,, Choose the battle you can win, NOT the one that will exhaust all of your resources!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is where OOIDA has it wrong.

    Again,,,,,,, Just "my" opinion............

I agree 100% on HOS. My family started skidding logs with mules then trucks came around. I am a fourth generation. You know how they say everyone is born with the fight or flight instinct. Well there wrong. We dont have the flight, but doubled down on the fight. Its my right and duty to question my goverment. Even if it doesnt directly affect me . More people should try it. But lets face it. Aslong as they get there starbucks order correct and fav tv show. They are not aware what is happening around them.

Btw kansas it is a good conversation. Just shows that people with different opinions can communicate. That does not happen on Trucker Repot very offten. I am taking away info from you about how it has helped your operation. All valid info for me to learn some positive points from someone running them. Because tommarow is another day in trucking. Who know whats instore.
