Have you downloaded MyRadar? If not, do it. It's my "go to" app for making routing decisions on the fly, especially in Tornado Ally.

The wind can be your friend if you use it correctly. Had a lumber tarp to take off one time windy as well! drivers side windward, took all the bungees off on the passengers side and started working forward on the drivers side. All bungees off went over to passengers side forward corner, gave it a tug and ran down wind of the passengers side. Tarp went right over load and on the ground. Being on the leeward side of the truck will make it easier to roll up.Broke Down 69 and Lepton1 Thank this.

I was pulling my tarps off yesterday when a day cab flatbed driver gets out of his truck and states.....don't you just love to tarp! I said I do! he said you do? I said yup....love it. A little while later he said "Well at least you got a nice looking truck" I said thanks, pulling tarps paid for it.
Airborne, spyder7723, Feedman and 3 others Thank this. -

Ran 530 so far, still got two hours on my driveline but ive stopped for fuel in Sidney, Nebraska and to send a message to dispatch letting them know i could be there about 20 hours before my scheduled unload. Hoping he can move it up, i just dont need 3 days to go just short of 1300 total miles, that's just way to much time. I know they're just feeling me out at this point, hopefully they'll figure out I'm good for 600+ every day in this truck pretty quick.
More later...Highway Sailor, Lepton1, Shock Therapy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Went along I-80 on Sunday, Cheyenne to Elk Mountain was closed for light high profile vehicles.
Wind gust 60+ miles, worst part was from Cheyenne to the Lincoln monument, trucks parked everywhere.
It was really bad, had 79000 gross and the wind still pushed me like crazy.
I always take the route thru Provo Canyon heading South to Cali, nice drive. Short before Provo when you get out of the canyon there's a sign I-80 right, don't take it, go straight thru Provo, lots of traffic lights but still faster than the detour. When you're back on I-15, next exit there's a Flying J at exit 261 and a Love's at 260, nearest to Spanish Fork.Broke Down 69 and Shock Therapy Thank this. -

Bad timing on the Army's part. Was barred from re-enlistment while deployed (I didn't play politics, and mileage was taking a very noticeable toll on me physically), and had about 90 days from redeployment till terminal leave. So, there wasn't time to get enrolled in Troops to Transport on Fort Hood. And bills don't stop because you leave the service, and dump all your savings into renting a house because the bank failed you at getting a home loan. Did what I had to do to pay them bills.

Not able to slide my appointment time up,.so I suppose I'll be laying up in the Provo area this afternoon. Setting in the Wyoming PoE now, waiting on a fuel card.issue to get resolved, but it may well be the case that I screwed up, it's happened once or twice before.
More later...Shock Therapy and Panhandle flash Thank this.
