Sorry, Jim. You're wrong. Spent a few hours talking with a motor carrier enforcement officer earlier in the week. They can stop you for any reason, and can enter and search your entire truck without a warrant or 'just cause'. He also said that if you ever see people walking around at an inspection point with FMCSA on their backs and big gold badges, don't talk to them unless you HAVE to. They can and will most likely ruin your day.

What makes you are truck driver? Gear jamming a 13 speed at 75 and pushing people out of the way? Parking wherever you want to because you feel like it and blocking other people so they can't leave when it's time to go. There are two ways to get a CDL today. Go to a private school and then be stuck paying back a $6,000 loan or go to one of the training companies which requires only a 1 year commitment.
