Semantics aside, you are still wrong. If you look at religious persecution in an historical context, Christianity would not be judged favorably. Does that mean you shouldn't trust Christians? Of course not. You would do better to judge a person by the content of his or her character. There are good and bad people in all religions.
Obese, you may not have a job soon.

I do practice exactly what you say. I have no problem trusting someone who is muslim, I just wont do it until I've been shown they can be trusted. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying I would never hire someone that's muslim period, just saying that I would not hire a muslim that I did not know.
Call me prejudice if you will, doesn't bother me. Hiring someone is an investment into someones life, a huge one. I wont make that investment into the "other team" if you will. I also have no problem refusing to work for muslim people, even if that meant not getting employed or being paid less to work for people not of the muslim faith.
Like I said, I would never really own a place, and if I really did own a business things could be way different. Saying something, then actually being confronted with a situation are 2 way different things. Surely I've not explained myself well enough, so sorry for that. I am just stating that I do not support the muslim religion in any way, shape, or form. This includes buying their products, being a part of a muslim ran organization or country, accepting their funds, whatever.
To give you a little better picture, if I had cancer, and my treatments were impossible for me to afford through any means. Then, I was offered the best treatment in the world provided by muslims free of charge, I would refuse it.
To hate people based on the color of their skin or their eyes or hair or the way they talk, where they come from, etc are all wrong in my eyes. To intrinsically not believe the same way as people of opposing faith, however, is life. It has been that way since the beginning of time, it will be that way until the end of time. I have my side, they have theirs, I am happy with that. I am not interested in comprimising my values just because... well, just because. My values are held with very high regard and I comprimise them for nothing or anyone. If this makes me worthy of imprisonment, so be it. I will betray my country before I betray my God and that is final. -
Lets see this thread started with possible new regulations regarding obese drivers now we are debating religion what a turn this thread has taken
-
Sorry for that. I truly didn't mean to do such a thing. This will be my last post about the subject with regard to the religion aspect of it.
Ultimately, the only point I was trying to make is that our liberties are being taken away. The country is beginning to go into social darwinism very quickly as evidence shows. If we as a country aren't careful, we will be repeating history as has happened so many times before. Ideaology of superiority of certain groups of people, no matter the type of group (racial group, religious group, social group, financially successful group, poor group, whatever...), is a very dangerous thing. To say that obese people shouldn't drive a truck is the onset of social darwinism, as such they are ultimately stating that obese people are inferior to others. If it were Jewish people, we would instantly see the problem. Because it is a health/liability related issue though, people tend to agree or think it's ok. You must remember that the Nazi's truly believed Jewish people were 'trash' if you will, much like we may be inclined to think that fat or homeless or smoking or drinking people are 'trash'. Same situation, different groups.
Sorry again for getting off on the wrong foot there. I suppose I didn't express myself on the issue properly. No thread hijacking intended. -
You and I are on opposite ends here but I don't believe in censorship and I don't think you do either. Maybe talk to you some other time...
-
Feel free to pm me about the subject, or start a different thread, but I wont continue to talk about the subject of religion in this thread; since it may be considered thread hijacking.

Threads very rarely stay on topic around here! Don't sweat it! About the only ones that stay on topic are the ones about trucking companies, and they even go off topic periodically.

The real actual Medical Review Board reccomendation was that all CMV operators with a BMI> 30 would be required to get a sleep apnea test.
Drivers with BMI>30 will still be able to drive. They just will be required to get an unnecessary and expensive ( $ 1,300-1,500) test. The studies cited by the MRB do not make the scientific case to prove BMI is an accurate indicator of sleep apnea.
Neither did the studies cited by the MRB make the case that drivers with sleep apnea are less "safe" than drivers without the condition.
The entire issue (in my opinion) is the result of one organization the National Sleep Foundation which is a lobbying/trade organization for sleep medicine getting one of their directors Dr. Barbara Phillips appointed to the MRB. -
I have covered the reasons why BMI'S are useless in another forum!
I don't think the Medical Review Board recommendations will hold water... Because BMI'S don't even come close to judging a persons overall health! -
