Hi Guys. I'm so glad that I moved in to my grandparents old farmhouse recently because now I have a shop. It's old and drafty and is just a oversize 2 car garage but I just put it to good use. When I was a couple days from home my egr cooler on my DD13 sprang a leak and was going through a gallon a day. So since I have a shop now I thought I would change it my self. By the way, there is a hose going from the top of the cooler to the overflow tank. Should I start filling the cooler first?![]()

A crappy shop is better than no shop.

Oh boy. Let me think on this a little more. HAW HAW HAW... oh wait... it's killing me.
Seriously, fill the radiator first. Engine running with cab heat on fluid will lower in level, add more fluid until radiator stays full. Put the cap on and let it build pressure towards operating temperature.
The coolant overflow tank will take care of itself. -
We can tell you just got moved in by the lack of old projects pushed back into the corners of your new shop, it will feel good inside shop when it gets colder?

Yes. It was about 35 here yesterday and was fairly comfortable in there. After I took the pics I went and got some thick bats of insulation and stuffed them between the truck and the door. So between that and a little torpedo heater I was good.

My dad built a shop to fit his truck inside. Once it was done he decided it was too nice to put the truck in so I still had to lay in the mud and snow to grease it every weekend

Next weekend you can raise the shop 5' and get out of the elements completely.

To get the air out of the system you must fill the coolant resivor, run at a high rpm to get the system temp up to get the thermostat open. Once the thermostat opens take it off of high idle and refill the coolant resivor. Run it for another 5-10 minutes at high idle. After that time is done bring it back down to a normal idle and refill the resivor again. This is the proper way to fill the coolant on a semi.
