I think it will depend on the terminal. Well, as far as unloading, my buddy was required to work on the docks too. They would want him there on Saturdays to do just that. But again, I am sure it will depend on the terminal.

You won't. Just terminal to terminal drop and hook type stuff. Getting it down the road. No deliveries.zigstar Thanks this.

He’s doing road not P&D .And even if he was doing city what is there to keep up with that’s hourly pay.Never heard of anyone who needed a journal to keep up with miles or hours for a week.zigstar Thanks this.

Detroit isn't the only place they tried to pull that crap.

Dock work is required of road (linehaul) drivers at many companies, but I'm not sure how YRC handles that. My company has dedicated dock workers, so we don't have to do dock work except on rare occasions at dark (closed) terminals.
As far as keeping track of miles and hooks and such, I fill out a trip sheet every night and get a carbon copy that I later compare with my paystub. No worries about keeping a special journal. Again, I'm not sure how YRC road drivers keep track of all that, but writing it all down separately might be unnecessary.zigstar Thanks this. -
Because he makes it sound like just because it’s a union company they’re going to screw him over, here’s an idea save your trip sheets, now there is no need for a big binder.bottomdumpin, z32sean, HalpinUout and 3 others Thank this.

You sure he worked for YRC and not Central or R&L? YRC must by contract supply all of the equipment needed for the jobBob Dobalina, rabbiporkchop and zigstar Thank this.

R&L Carriers requires you to purchase your own pallet jack but when I was doing p&d work for YRC the company provided the pallet jack
zigstar, Bob Dobalina and p608 Thank this. -
I was thinking the same thing. I've only ever heard of R&L forcing P&D drivers to supply or buy their own pallet jack.

I don't use a binder, but I definitely have an app on my phone where I keep track of all my loads (Evernote). I think that's just an intelligent business practice. You can make an argument whether computers are infallible or not, but they are still operated by humans.x1Heavy Thanks this.
