    I can agree with that.

Maybe its a regional thing. Doesn't the US have a police force for each state? Up here we just have the RCMP and possibly a municipal police force in the larger cities, so there is generally more consistency with their training and attitudes.

It's probably too late at this point, but if you have a way to, see if you can get the report from the officer and check to see if he certified that he tested his radar gun both at the beginning and end of his shift. I was able to get a ticket completely dismissed a few years back because the officer who stopped me failed to certify a test at the end of his shift.
It's probably too late, but if there's an error in his report, maybe there's a way to get a new hearing on it..?

For the most part cops cannot lie from the radar gun. There is a record of the recorded speed. If the rader is not correctly calibrated, well the lawayer can get the records and make the department verify it was correct.
As for 70 in a 65, well any small hill will let that happen. Did it all the time in a 62mph truck. Getting it to 70 that is.

No, while there is only hearsay from the op, with the ops attitude from his first post I have a very hard time beliving he was doing "only" 57, which is still illegal in a tt.

We have police departments for every municipality, county, the state, and the feds. Every unit of police is different and there are tens of thousands of them. Some of them are amazing (and thank you for your service. I'm sorry I'm coming across so harshly to your entire occupation, but I think that people need to speak up about some of the structural problems with how the system works.) and some of them are literally criminal gangs that spend most of their time dreaming up ways to hit statistical measures of success while lining their own pockets in a variety of ways.

I think we are dramatically over policed, but reasonable minds might disagree about that.

Each state has it's own state police, county sheriff, and city police, assuming the city orbtown is big enough to afford their own department (some towns contract with their sheriff's department for local enforcement).

Stuff like this is why OP is ultimately responsible for this. Yeah he made a mistake... But it was a big mistake.

More like mistake, after mistake, after mistake. It's almost tragic.
