Everything became official this week. We are the owner (payer) of a shiny red 2014 Pete 388 and CX-7. Just thought I'd show the group!

To specifically look at potential rigs, my wife and I traveled our butts off, to be seemingly disappointed time-and-time again. We were really not interested in anything older than a 2014 and no more than 400k miles, without copious amounts of rust, with a big bunk, NOT a high-rail. Care to venture how difficult that is to find? We had actually given up and went Rush Trucks here in Dallas to order a new truck. The very next day, I couldn't sleep. Got up, came into my office at 2am, opened TruckPaper and there she stood. A bright red glimmering ray of hope!

The truck was out of Colorado and while the photos looked good (all photos look good) I had my doubts on the issue of rust, but we were game to go check it out. Everything checked out! We already had our financing in place so we made the deal that day and we "should" take delivery next week.

Yes, I think we made a really good deal. She has virtually no rust at all (small amounts here and there), 402k miles, I would have preferred the CX-6, but the 7 is okay too, I'm a wee bit concerned about weight issues. We're having the Nite System A/C APU installed. So all told with the APU it was right at $170k.

I've officially retired my old rig and put her up for sale. Time to move on to our next chapter as a car hauler. May God see us through!

Good deal, you will get many many miles and pay days out of her.. probably for the best you didn’t have to purchase a brand spanking new one. I’m sure it would be nice but that payment wouldn’t be.. 400k miles is new anyway

Looks great driver, especially the color! With a little time learning it and some help from the pros on this forum, I am sure you will maximize your load potential. Before long you will be hauling 10 sedans comfortably and showing us the pics. I hope this rig makes you lots of money and serves you well.

You mentioned the weight issues, do you wish to share the weight?

Officially, I don't know the exact weight, just what is stated on Cottrell's website, which is 44k-45k. The seller told me the stated empty weight of the truck is 16,700 and assuming 44k total, that would suggest the trailer is 27ish. So bottom line is I not so much concerned about gross, but I can certainly see were legally scaling out the tandems could be a challenge. Then again, I had the same problem with my 7 car. We'll see!

The tractor weight of 16,700 is without the headrack. The trailer should weigh about 19k give or take depending on the specs. Looks great , good luck with the new ride!
