I usually use a three railer. Sometimes I need two.

Actually not. Most trucks on the road have open differentials, both at the wheel as well as the interaxle differential, meaning whichever wheel spins easiest gets the power. Locking the power divider locks the interaxle differential, but the differentials on the axles are still open. Whichever wheel on each axle spins the easiest gets the power sent to that axle. This is why on most trucks, you can replace the tires on one axle and leave worn tires on the other, or even do tires on one side of the truck and not the other. The open differentials allow different wheel speeds.

Mack rears are the only "limited slip" axles I am aware of as a standard feature of the axle, because a series of cams and peanuts sends a portion of the torque necessary to spin the easiest wheel across to the other wheel. Mack power dividers work the same way, which is why with Mack rears it is important to keep the drives at all 4 corners fairly even tread. Having new tires on one axle and old tires on the other will cause that power divider to bind up and pop as it tries to compensate for the differing speeds.

IMO - I'd be happy with a solid truck that runs well and a good pay check. I don't care what the mpg because company is paying the bill and I don't care if the truck has an apu or not if the company don't care if I idle when +/- 75-45 at least until I go to sleep. A fridge would be nice but not necessary and a good mattress is a give in. I wouldn't care how the trucks set up as far as trans/gear etc.. it's not my bill I just hold the wheel and open the doors.

So yeah I would rather get paid well than have all the bells and whistles I will say that after reading a lot of the desires in this thread, I can understand the push for automated trucks, but then the cry will be for a lift to lower the truck attendant down from the truck.

Yeah that’s what it looks like, you can actually see it lit up on the dash if you look close.

It’s a Volvo, so it’s whatever the vnl has. Maybe it has a limited slip too like the Macks do.

Whatever it is it works well.

Flattop coffin with a window in the back.
    900+HP
    4000ft lb Lipe
    46k rears with 4.10 ratio
    280wb

It should have enough torque to change the rotation of Earth.

A few years back, I used to stay in Canada, working. They limited the wheelbases to 244 inch. There were ways to get around this, special wavers and stuff...but the biggest we could go with a waiver was 283 (it's been a few years sine I've been there and I dont keep up with Canadian regs anymore, so things may have changed)

I ran with a bunch of Bennett guys on a windfarm in Ulysses,KS. These guys had the superhauler conversion on their trucks, but they were over 400-450inch wheelbase pulling nacells on 2+3+2 multiaxles. Extremely long wheelbases and the biggest big house sleepers made (big house sleepers arent my thing, but if I had one, it would have to have a hot tub and a stripper pole on the inside). Like atour bus with a 5th wheel on the back. Yeah, they were doing wind, but some of those wind farms (northern Oklahoma), we had to use the existing county roads with no jughandles. I dont see how they made it in.

I'm with you on that.. after going on 27 years shifting gears. I thought like a lot of folks don't t want a auto but being in one now almost a year, you couldn't make me shift another gear. Not sure if it's cause I'm getting older or if getting older is making me lazy.

An APU that kicks on as soon as you turn off the truck with bunk heater and idle free ac. That's worth 2-3 cpm to me. The option of having the passenger seat removed so I can strap down a 3.2cf fridge with a microwave on top in it's place. Bluetooth radio. Adaptive cruise, collision avoidance and lane departure. Storage box at steps to catwalk. Got that and I'm happy.
