First a bit of background. I own a 2015 cascadia owe nothing on it. I parked it 5 months ago with thoughts of selling it and being done driving. Everything I have is paid off ( house, cars, properties). Now my question. My neighbor has a manufacturing business his family has had for around 20 yrs. He approached me with a prospect. He needs someone to drive his trailer 200 miles to a location drop and grab his empty bring back to his plant here and repeat. This happens 5 days a week. All I would be responsible for is fuel and maintenance he pays lic insurance everything else. He will pay me $3.00 a mile. Would you take this, he came to me because the driver that is doing this now has been having problems and isn't reliable anymore. So would this be a deal or no deal for you thanks

So is it $600 or $1200? One way paid or round trip?
I would think if person has all his stuff paid off, he'd knew how to run numbers
Balakov100, aussiejosh, Roberts450 and 3 others Thank this. -
"He needs someone to drive his trailer 200 miles to a location drop and grab his empty bring back to his plant here and repeat." That would be 400 miles a day and $1200.00. Yeah I can run numbers
was just bouncing this idea off you guys. I made my money from running my construction co. and from selling said company. I only got into trucking after I found out I got bored not working. Then found out living in a truck wasn't for me after being on the road for 3 yrs.
blairandgretchen and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
For $1200 per day, no trailer maintenance, no insurance payment, home everyday. Hell yeah! It's a smoking hot deal. I would jump on it without hesitation
tscottme, Pedigreed Bulldog, nightgunner and 7 others Thank this. -
The question is, do you want a job?
The pay is nice and I'd likely jump on it. The caveats are it will be a 5 day a week job, so if you want to take any time off you will have to arrange to have the run covered. Vacation, an extra Friday, or whatever.
If I had my truck and house both paid off I would not want to be working that hard.
Now if you actually want to work then yea, it sounds like a good run. -
Good points. That is what is holding me up on this. I am going to lunch with him today. "if you want to take any time off you will have to arrange to have the run covered. Vacation, an extra Friday, or whatever". I'll bring up that question right there. Thanks good point

Pay me $600 a day and I'll do it for you!
hoosiergirl and tinytim Thank this. -
Lunch went quite well. He said no problem taking time off with notice, he has a few different people that will haul for him all he wants is a couple weeks to set it up. Guess I'm driving again. I knew I couldn't get away. It is a sweet deal after all.
Mattflat362 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Yea that's good money, and you'll still be home. I'd do it.
