Really to most of us family is king and if we want to keep it that way we are going to have to fight for that. We better stand up and say our minds on issues of safety. These companies need us to keep making those huge profits at our expense. It will come down to where we are told how to crap, when to crap and the only one we have to blame is that image staring back in the mirror.

what about the no, because I just traveled 8 hours of storm and in 2 hours I have to stop because that silly rule and that storm will pass me over and I am only a few hours away from drop.dirthaller Thanks this.

LOL November then. This December is not going to be much better, I bet you.
I am a part of this too. My Keep Trucking thing is still in the box.Oxbow Thanks this. -
I don't agree, the accident is because someone can't drive a truck.
AND where the hell were you guys crying about HOS when they changes it in 2003, it was good before then, so I wonder how many of these guys who need to be "flexible" will cry if we return to the 1962 version of HOS?
I'm betting a lot.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
Excuse me! I was screaming out loud and almost ruined my throat. Nobody heard me.
It was from a balcony of my apartment building though.Oxbow and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this. -
I work oil field and for the most part pickup from the same shipper. Here is how having to strictly obey HOS rules is going to change things for me.
Instead of a bed and shower in our crew house, I am going to sleep in the truck full time at the shipper. This would save me an hour every day.
Going to have to turn down some loads, the load will be given to someone else. When I have my hours back there will likely not be anymore loads right away. Will certainly be a loss of income for me.
I will be forced to park on the lease roads or even the side of the highway at times. Means no bathroom and comforts.
To all of you people that say if you can't make a living working 14 hours a day 70 hours you should find another line of work. I strive for more than just a good living. I want a GREAT living and now I have to put a cap on how hard I work. I feel so defeated. I just got into this industry and things have been so good for me. I feel so sad and angry that I have to be a "criminal" because I want to work and not sit around "resting".
I don't know what else to do for work with comparable pay. I am making more money than all of my friends who went to college. -
Yep, one size fits all HOS doesn't fit all.
How will that save you an hour though? -
Drive time back and forth. I don't think leaving the yard, going to pickup the load would be counted as personal conveyance.
I know people are probably going to reply with "learn to adapt" and "its people like you that are the reason we have hours of service" First of all I can adapt, Im just not too thrilled with being out in this wasteland away from home and now earning less money. Second if Im tired I stop. I've heard of stories of guys saying they park and they were so tired when they wake up they thought they were still driving. I never drive fatigued. Out here a 3 hour nap will feel the same as 8 hours once you get used to it -
I saw elogs coming, I never paid much attention. I always though HOS rules would be changed or elogs would never happen, reality is starting to sink in. Maybe I will go back to working for coca-cola for only 35k a year
-
Only a few more weeks and elogs will be here, I can't wait, it'll be fun to watch.
KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.
