Time to become an electrician, lineman or go into construction. If these take off there is going to be a need for serious power grid upgrades and power generation projects. There's no way a standard 110v/20 amp wall plug is gonna charge the batteries enough to go 400 miles in 30 minutes. Even a 220v outlet ain't gonna have the juice to do that lol. Just imagine the size of the substation needed to charge these trucks at each and every mega outfit's terminals.

 

I can not believe Popular Mechanics actually printed "electric engine"!!!???
WTH? It's a MOTOR!!

 

What they need to do is make diesel electric trucks like the trains locomotives are.

 

First of all, no self respecting truck driver would be caught dead in something that fugly!
Second, the door. I would hate to have to get out of that thing in a hurry!
And I read where just the tractor weighs in at 39,000 pounds!

 

Nothing about it is practical at all

 

It better have auto braking. You hit something, you probably won’t survive. And it looks like it was spec’d for drop and hook set ups, look at all that space to hook up airlines. No door handles? Even better when the mechanism is frozen. And he better hope it doesn’t break down. How in the world would you tow it? Elon the genius has done it again!

 

That truck reminds me of something from the space age.

 

Thats right better put the coal burning generation plants on triple time to generate that kind of power.
I don't think a solar panel on the roof is going to do it.
But think of all the emissions it's going to save with an electric motor.... wait did I say coal plants on triple time.
Oh well I guess every truck stop could have a nuclear reactor installed that would be clean and definetly safe....
