The McDonalds is closed for remodeling. Not sure for how much longer.
But as a result, [and no doubt busy holiday travel exacerbated the problem] the Subway was out of many veggies and meats on Sunday afternoon. They're going to have to double up on their order stock until such time as McDonalds reopens, in the mean time, if you do stop in, be prepared for long lines and possibly missing items, especially on peak holiday travel days.
I'm waiting on the Big Texan shuttle to start running in a bit. Need a beer and a good chicken fried steak.
Come to find out they did not renew the lease and pulled out

Yes, but this Pilot is a preferred fuel stop for many so they'll have to stop in anyway. Lot's of other trucks stops as far as that goes, which is why I posted, to maybe save somebody the hassle of parking to find a cluster inside.jethro712 Thanks this.

The Big Texan limo driver said that he had read that the McDonald's owner did not renew the lease [at the Pilot]. So it will be a while before something else opens up there. So Subway it is for many in the mean time.

I always hated going there for fuel because there was a Mc'd there. People would go wait in line while the truck sat in the fuel island.
It seems most places with a Mc'd are like that.Jarhed1964, 48Packard, Dna Mach and 3 others Thank this. -
Well, now they'll be trying to figure out a plan B once they figure out the Plan A is no longer valid. A Subway plan B sucks if it's morning and all you wanted was an Egg mcMuffin and a hash brownwore out Thanks this.

I never cared for breakfast at Subway. Their pre -cooked egg for the ham and egg croissant reminded me of a "Today's Sponge" birth control device. You older guys probably remember those.

Laredo Taco at Stripes is pretty good if you like taquerias. I used to go there a lot in Lubbock. Amarillo is what made me think of that. Haven't seen one since except for one time in Nashville. I don't truck yet tho.

Stripes and their "taco stand" are generally okay. They're scattered all over west Texas from about US 281 and westward. But some of them deep inside oil patch country have gotten pretty "rough"

I have always wanted to go to the Big Texan. Looks like a good place to get some dinner.
