He wasn't arrested...so he didn't steal anything...frankly the operations and mgt team at kb should be taken out back and taken care of

He took something that he did not have the right to take. Sounds like theft to me. Hell he even admits to not having the right to take it.
Just because some cop did not want to pursue it legally, does not change the fact he did steal it.

Yes you could. Even though you don't have the pink slip to the truck you have the companys expressed permission to drive it. All you have done is violate a company policy on not going where you were dispatched to. Period. Now, if you repainted the truck and hid it in a warehouse someplace we would be talking theft.

And they cannot keep your property. They have to return it to you. Its no different than if you were locked out of your apartment for not paying rent. They by law have to secure your possessions.

No, I am not a lawyer, but I was a Police Detective for 30 years. They would not get away with this crap if they did it to me.

Their driver picked up the truck on Saturday. It is now Tuesday night and I have not been contacted by K&B regarding the arrival of my belongings at their yard.

I don't know where my stuff is. Joliet, IL to Sioux City isn't that far.

You might get your stuff back after it has been picked through for useful items. I've seen drivers take a extra day off & they just had another driver bag up his stuff & drop it in the lounge. Cleaning crew comes & bins what's left. Then the driver shows up ### out.

I'm sure you signed something & they had something on a wall somewhere stating that the company is not responsible for your items if you don't take them with you during shop visits, hometime or separation

Did you at least take pictures or video of your truck before it was abandoned ?

No, unfortunately I wasn't able to document anything. The state trooper told me to just grab my laptop and a change of clothes for the motel.

Whoever I spoke to did say he was going to throw it all in the dumpster, so I wouldn't doubt if most, if not all, of it has been tampered with.

    Or did I...:D

I have been driving awhile & got a kick out of the hopelessness he had without a APU. FFS trucking sure has changed.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

The courts have already decided that communications with Dispatch are not a work function during your mandated break times
