Gotta love Elton John! He's talented, bright, and quite funny too. I honestly respect the man!

Works for me...I'm all for civil partnerships, if that's what makes 'em happy...as long as "marriage" isn't redefined to accommodate it.
AfterShock, shookup and Big Don Thank this. -
Civil partnership would be just the ticket, give them the legal means to take care of each other.
MarkBig Don and GAPrincess Thank this. -
I could agree with civil partnership too.

This may be my demise here on this topic. I was always under the impression that to procreate, you would need a man and a woman to make the connection.
We could get political and as religious as we could ever get on this subject, but the fact of the matter is, where the rubber meets the road, NO man, gay, straight, nuts, crazy, etc., can become pregnant. You need the opposite gender to complete the cycle. Always have, always will.
I often think of the natural instinct of simple wildlife when this argument comes up. I live in a region that is full of moose and deer. Never once have I seen 2 bull moose looking at each other going, "hey there Bullwinkle, how's about you and me scrapin' the velvet off our racks together, eh?"...On the same note, never saw 2 8 pointers offering the same space either. They always know enough to keep looking for the mate of an opposite gender, and mostly will always lead to a territorial battle when 2 of the same sex come onto one another's domain.
My point is, even the animals of the forest know enough to keep the NATURAL cycle of life just that..."natural". That's why every year, we get more baby mooses, and more baby deers.
I can't get past the civil union thing with 2 men, Sorry. It's just a tough row to hoe for me. Sir Elton John??? I always liked his musical talent, but once I was informed of his lifestyle, it gave me a new, disrespectful perspective on him ever since.
Everybodys entitled to their own opinion, so please don't hate me for mine, but I personally think it's a disgrace to humanity itself.
If you disagree, fine, but just think of the kids with 2 mommies or daddies in school, dealing with all that nonsense as a child.Mrs T Thanks this. -
Mountain Man - I agree with your argument against it. People get so into what is "right" in God's eyes and make it a religious issue, but actually its not just a religious issue. Take religion completely out of it, and you still have an action that were everyone to follow would mean the end of the human race, and goes against the basics of nature. However it happens, whether it be by choice or genetics, I could go along with a civil union situation. I am just uncomfortable with it being called marriage the same as what I have with my husband.

While I can see your point of view here, and respect it, I have to disagree with you. The man has talent, regardless of his sexual orientation. As do many other "Gay" folks. While I cannot agree with their life style, I do believe that as long as they don't try to shove it down MY throat, they have a right to live that way.
Just don't call it a "marriage."
No one should be hated because they express an opinion. I agree with you that it is a disgrace. However, I don't believe that this is something that we can change, regardless of how we feel about it. So there does not seem to be a lot of good in getting heartburn over it. In other words, "Hate the sin, but love the sinner."
And on this, I agree 100%!AfterShock Thanks this. -
Alright I guess I have come back and discuss something that I thought was settled.
There is more incidence of homosexuality in nature than most are willing to admit. Take Chimpanzees for instance:

Many of you went ballistic on this board a few months back when the subject of gay rights came up...quoting scripture, calling those who defended the rights of gays and lesbians foul names and so on.
Without getting back to that "waste of bandwidth" let me just say it's not up to anyone to impose their beliefs and will upon anyone be they straight or gay. If you believe in a just God, then let God decide.GAPrincess Thanks this.
