i have a wet line kit on truck. I do not use and was wondering if I can remove lines from tank and cap off to install a headache rack? That way if ever needed I can reattach tank and not have to install complete system.

if you are going to remove the tank i would just remove the entire wet kit just a few more hoses drop the pto off and install a cover fill the trans oil back up. keep track of what and how many gaskets/shims any spacers and then re install should not be a problem or more than a few hours.
the majority of the time spent on a wet kit install is on installing the tanks and fittings making brackets ect and making hoses that are the right length. and setting the proper backlash on the pto as long as you put everything aside in in a organized way re-install should not take more than a afternoon.poppapump1332 and SAR Thank this. -
As long as you cap everything off there shouldn't be a problem. I've done it before.

Hell, just leave it on there. It's called "versatility". The more you CAN do on a moment's notice, the less likely you are to sit.

That’s why I haven’t taken it off but need to install a headache rack. Doing a lot of drop hook with flatbed and need to carry tarps, bungees, ect.

i have seen some headache racks that have a pto tank built into them. may be able to re-locate your pto tank somewhere out of the way of the headache rack as well. one of these two options is what i would do if i needed to add a headache rack to my truck. but i use my wetkit frequently.
SAR Thanks this. -
All I do is flatbed but never wanted to take off cause never know when it could be beneficial to have

If you don't remove the pump, make sure you never engage the pto without the lines on. I am not sure what might happen, but even with bypass, if the oil has no place to go it could cause problems.
SAR Thanks this.
