DOGSLIFE Thanks this. -
Thanks man, and a fellow Badger too. I can't believe some of the responses. We had a friendship on the road, we looked out for each other. If someone else was in a truck, you knew right away, you had something in common with that person. Like Kyle sez, it was a way of shaking their hand, nice to run with you, even if it was only for a short time. Legality BS, bright lights, dim lights, what's wrong with this industry today? Trouble is, with your social media crap, you can be in your own world, and who cares about anybody else. Never used to be that way. For shame!!

We are taught in our CDL manuals to not help people pass for the reason another driver mentioned, you might be responsible if there is an accident.JReding Thanks this.

Please do not flash brights, just blink lights.
-
At night if flashed it aways done when checking mirrors which blinds the drivers for a short time, do not do it.
-
Sometimes you try to notify the oncomers of a hazard on road ahead of them, flashing lights off and on is used.

The new Freightliners have a headlight "kill switch" button on the steering wheel, near the marker blink button. With LED's this is a much more practical option and looks better then rotating the cheaply made headlight switch on the older trucks to kill incandescent bulbs then hope the cheap switch doesn't fail then, and wait on them to come back up.
That said, I still don't "flash anyone over" anymore unless it's a potentially "critical situation". -
We never seemed to have much of a problem with this back in the day when I started... But then we pretty much all had CB's and we could just TELL the driver when he was clear to move back in the right lane or when he was clear to pass on a two lane... We all knew to dim our lights too, not "flash" them... Wonder when this got lost?

That's all I do when being passed by a rig in anything I'm driving.BB203 Thanks this.
