California has been limiting the amount of methane gases a dairy can produce. So many of the dairies are relocating to New Mexico and west Texas, which is good for our economy.

So when will we see BPF's (Bovine Particulate Filters) made mandatory in CA? :biggrin_25523:

This past Thursday I dropped off some motor/pump parts for the pumping station in Taft. On the way back to the 5, I noticed smoke and then flames rising up from the valley floor. As I got a little closer, I had noticed that a contractor had gathered up thousands of tumbleweeds and set them afire. I thought that burning debris was against the law in CA.

Burning tumble weeds seems like a reciepe for disaster. I can picture in my head driving down the highway and watching hundreds of burning bushes slowly tumble across the road into surrounding fields. It would probably be kinda pretty although I hope not to see that outside my head.

I saw on TV that 60 cows generate the equivalent of a barrell of oil per day. Thats alot of pollution, and wasted energy. Perhaps the future cattle cars will be enclosed and recovering the methane, then you wouldn't mind following one, or parking near one.

Instead of "drill baby drill", it should be "fart baby fart"!

Saw on tv awhile back about some sort of farm that was completely powered by capturing the cow's methane and using it as fuel...good idea.
