Most ELD's will have internet, cell or satellite based sync. If you work for a company that makes you drive a different truck everyday, and did not get this feature you need to flee sooner rather than later.

You just sign in with your ID number as all of their equipment is on the same network.
Some are using a handheld unit that is issued at dispatch sign on and go.

Following what others said. Your logs are in a cloud back-up. Doesn't matter which truck in the fleet that you are assigned. You sign into "Truck X" today and tomorrow it is "Truck Y" and your logs just follow you from truck to truck.

My ELD trucks have required you to log in to start using it. From each unit you can email or fax your past log pages to the officer. The log pages are not stored inside the truck ELD unit. They report back to a computer outside the truck. Just remember to log in and log out so the hours follow you.

This is why they should have came up with a system that used cards like in Europe.
You just stick your card into what ever truck you are driving and the info stays on your card (chip).
