When I first started reading this thread I had the same thought. After all I imagine that if these ex CF executives are still around they might google CF for fun every so often? Just about anything is possible on the internet. So come on guys if your reading this speak up!

Mike2633,
After reading your posts I get the impression that Bass had the intention of converting Emery from a 'air freight carrier' to a 'air parcel carrier'? Would that be a correct interpretation? -
Yes, I'm sure the executives faired much better post CF than the rank and file did.
I remember the day I heard about CF closing, I was hauling groceries for a private carrier. I was at mile post 19 on highway 140 listening to to Bob Brinkers Money Talk on the am radio, it was the lead story at the news break at the top of the hour. I almost fell out of the seat of my FLD120 SHOCKED!! It's kind of like people remembering where they were when JFK was killed or the day the towers fell on 9-11. Maybe CF failing wasn't nearly as big a deal as those two events to most, but for a truck nerd like me it was HUGE! -
Yep ! Those were professionals I shared the road with and I was ticked .

I don't know much about the railroad industry but it seems to me that the rail companies (especially class 1) Basically have a monopoly due to the fact that it's almost impossible to build a new rail company to compete. Monopolies are breeding grounds for the sort of thing mike2633 mentioned, there's little competitive pressures to incentivize management and labor to act in a efficient manner. Throw a bunch of government policies in the mix and there you go. Is that a correct analysis?
