I'm at Morton's in Vegas having wheels polished while watching tv ...just saw a commercial for the casa Blanca in mesquite nv saying their steak comes from the Chicago stockyards ....huh ? The Chicago stockyards closed in the 1950s lol
HalpinUout and cnsper Thank this. -
Wow... I wonder what's up with that?bzinger Thanks this.

Our steaks are aged to perfection and are quality choice US Prime. In other words, don’t eat them. At least that’s my opinion.rearview Thanks this.

So I have some expertise here. Before getting into trucking I managed a Prime steakhouse, Morton's of Chicago, no relation to the truckstop and we bought our beef from either Stockyards Packing out of Chicago or Allen Brothers. Pretty much every steakhouse does the same as I had friends that worked at Ruth's Chris, Flemings, and all the other major prime steakhouses.
Prime beef is around 1-2% of all beef in the US so options are limited as to where you get it from but doesn't matter too much as its been graded Prime, high marbling and what not. I think Casa Blanca just messed up their wording in that commercial, lolbzinger Thanks this. -
It is sad to hear this. Just a quick questions. Are there usually restaurants like Black Bear and Denneys at every major truck stop?
-
Are the healthy food options hard to come by at places like that? Or do they usually have something pretty healthy on the menu?
-
I gave the manager of the new Black bear diner in San Rafael an Uber ride yesterday, he says they are under big expansion. I have eaten at a few of them myself, good food and price not too bad for this area. Could do with more options like this in truck stops

Actually here now, a regular stop for me. The food is pricey, but you get huge servings, I usually need a to go box. There desserts are killer as well.

It's not bad, but just a few more miles south next to the Pilot at Hesperia is the Outpost Cafe.
Can't be beat. Food, service, and the prices.HalpinUout Thanks this.
