I’m finishing up my CDL training through a local college. I’m also getting my tanker and hazmat endorsements. I’m curious as to what companies for tanker and hazmat, I don’t care what is being hauled I’m easy to teach, are the best as far as pay. I want to go where the money is. If I can get paid great to have fun driving a rig, that would be awesome. Also, after I get experience which companies would be the best to switch to? I prefer local or regional, if possible. I live in the bottom of Virginia. Anywhere from Roanoke, VA to Marion, VA to Winston Salem, NC and Greensboro, NC. Thanks a ton for the help!

Since we don't know which town you live in; all we can do is give you a list of tanker companies that hire new cdl grads and you can contact them and ask if they hire where you live.
All these hire new cdl grads, even if the websites have otherwise:
McKenzie Tank Lines
Trimac Transportation
Bay & Bay Transportation
Schneider Bulk
CTL Transportation
Liquid Trucking
AirGas
Service Transport
Superior-Carriers
Tidewater TransitAzTrucker13 Thanks this. -

Contract Freighters (www.cfidrive.com)-run all over; Florida, California,Washington State, and everywhere in between.
Magnum Ltd.
Abilene Motor Express in Richmond
Freymiller -(www.drive4freymiller.com) hires new cdl grads through their "Restore Program."
Tyson Foods
Colonial Freight Systems
East-West Inc. (www.goeastwestinc.com)
All the above hire new grads even if the websites have different.Last edited: Nov 30, 2017

R.O. Harrell, South Boston, VA (non-haz liquid and pneumatics)
Southern Tank, Holly Hill, SC (a couple of terminals in VA) (pneumatics)
Lisk Trucking, Wade, NC (pneumatics)
Atlantic Bulk Carriers, Providence Forge, VA (has a location in Covington, VA)
As China usually says, forget what the websites tell you. Look up the companies you are interested in, find their recruiting or Human Resources number and call them to find out if they are willing to train a new driver. The worst they can do is say "NO!!!!". Even a definite NO may end up as a potential employer after you go somewhere else for 6 months to 1 year. You never know until you make the call.
A piece of caution for you. It seems most, if not all, hazmat companies want their equipment parked on their yard, tank wash, or at a customer when the driver is on home time. That means a commute to where ever your truck happens to be. Non-hazardous haulers are not usually as restrictive and you can park where ever you have permission from the property owner. Of course, there are companies who have local restrictions (ie, if you live within a certain radius from the terminal, they want your truck on the yard. A company local to me has dry vans and if you live within 50 miles, they want the equipment on the yard during your home time).AzTrucker13 Thanks this. -
