I got my DAC report back and I have disuputed one item which was fixed on my report, but I am not sure if I can fix another item on my report.
In June of this year I started working for Knight Refrigerated and the truck that they had put me in at the time had not been serviced by them or even detailed by them before I got into the truck.
I did my best to inspect the truck and to document every item I was was able to find that was wrong with the truck before I left with it and due to the fact that they really did not have anything else available I concluded that as far as the inside of the cleanliness of the inside of the truck was concerned I could live with it and that once I was out on the road I could just clean the inside of the truck on my own and I had no problem with that.
Unfortunately during the course of my employ with them the driver steer tire started to develop a problem in which part of the rubber was missing one day when I did my inspection. I tried to notify the company about it via the qualcomm as that was the only form of communication that I had available to me at the time as I did not have a cell phone and there was no pay phone around or any other type of phone that I could use to get a hold of the maintence department.
As a result I ended up having to send a message via the qualcomm letting dispatch know of the problem and asking them if they could have the maintenance department contact me via the qualcomm so that I could find out as to what they wanted me to do about it and as to how they wanted to handle it, but unfortunately despite my repeated attempts to contact them they never responded and I ended up having to live with it long enough to get from Oxnard, CA back to Phoenix.
If there would have been a place in which I could have stopped at that I know they would approve of to have the tire looked at and fixed I would have, but unfortunately they do not like to spend money for any parts while out on the road. When I got back to the terminal I reported the issue immediately to the shop and I notified them that the truck was due for service.
They took the truck into the shop and had me go to a hotel for the night, but when I checked with them the next day they told me that there were more problems with the truck than a simple B service would normally take and as a result they had me take a loaner truck for about a week.
After that I thought that every thing was cool and that there were no problems or at least until they pulled me into the office on August 7, 2008 for my review and during my review with the exception of my miles being low due to lack of frieght there were no real problems listed on my review. Unfortunately because of the issue of the tire they decided that they were going to terminate me saying that the steel cords were showing on the tire and even though I tried to explain things to them they just would not listen.
When they let me go, they told me that they were going to put on my DAC report that it was a voluntary separation and I thought that was alright. It was not until later that I found out from my DAC report that they had put on my DAC report that I was discharged for violating a company policy which in my opinion it total bs as in my opinion they should have brought that truck in for service and fixed all of the problems with the truck as well as detailed it prior to me ever stepping foot on their property and as a result I am wondering if their is anything that I can do to clear up this issue even further.
I did get DAC to fix the issue with the Eligible for rehire section now reads that a review is required before rehire, but the work record says Company Policy Violation and that kind of bothers me and I would like to be able to have the corrected along with some other entries in my DAC that I believe are messed up that other companies have put on my DAC.
One company that I worked for called Bay & Bay Transfer says that I am not eligible for rehire because I quit and I am not sure as to whether or not there is anything that I can do about that.
Most of the companies that I worked for listed on my DAC that a review was required prior to rehire even though 98 % of the companies that I worked for I had quit because I believed that they were either lying to me outright or that they were trying to cheat me on my miles.
One company that I worked for Werner Enterprises did the same thing and the only reason that I quit them was because I was running the shuttle run from Albuquerque to Amarillo and most nights they were telling me that there was either no one to meet me or that there were no loads and given the fact that I was only making .21 cents per mile to begin with really reaked havoc with my finances and that is why I quit them.
I am not sure as to whether or not I can do anything to clear up some of the stuff in my DAC without taking legal action and that is why I am here as I am just kind of wondering as to what my options are regarding this issue as I believe that this is kind of hurting my chances of getting hired by any OTR company.
Personally I am not really interested in running OTR because I have done that for so long that I am tired of it all and would prefer to be home more so that I can try to rebuild my life.
I think that after spending two solid years of driving OTR for a company called Styer Transportation and basically never getting out of the truck during that time that I started to suffer from burnout and that is pretty much why I started working the shuttle run for Werner.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can better handle this as I am trying to clean things up by as much as I possibly can so that my options are greatly expanded.
If anyone has any thoughts on this, then I would appreciate it if you could let me know so that I have some ideas as to what I need to be doing to resolve this issue more in my favor if at all possible.Baack Thanks this.
