Everything you have heard is true. Dealers are far and few between and parts are incredibly expensive, like all of the other brands on certain items. If you do have a dealer near by, they are normally 9 to 5 operations, so getting in for service can be a time consuming affair. And yes, they are a real beach to work on. I have owned a few. if I was to recommend a truck, get a pre emission unit with a Detroit or Cummins, preferably with a fresh in frame. Drive the truck and make money and make repairs as needed. In a year or two, you will have a like new reliable truck.![]()

You seems a good dealer. My brand new Volvo d13 is consuming oil a gallon per 20,000.00 miles. Volvo is unable to trouble shoot it yet. Can u suggest a path forward ?

Volvo guys seem to have attitude problems thinking their trucks are so great..I drove one and wasn't impressed..I'll keep my T 680.

I own a 2005 Volvo with d12 engine. Truck has a 1.8million miles on frame, this is second engine on it. I bought it for 15k and for this year I spend 30k on maintenance including changing trans from 10 to 13spd. Right now truck have no issues. My MPG 6.8. Loads from 8 to 47k lbs OTR. And my gross for this year 197k so this truck pay for himself, maintenance and 90k for me. If the engine will stall, I will buy a used one and swap it rather then rebuild. I know a lot of shops, but can't trust any of them. But with this downtime and visiting 2, 3 times truck is well maintained. You should watch and know what they doing on your truck. Overall I'm happy with this truck, never been towed or have major issue on the road. Parts no big deal, CIT trucks have almost all in stock, or 2 day order. I'm always bring my own parts to shop and pay only for labor. Never used dealer to repair truck.

What’s the lifespan of a typical I-shift tranny? I’m planning on purchasing a truck soon and trying to figure if I should get 13-spd or Ishift
-
depends on what you drive how you maintain it and if anything happens or not they are pretty good trans but it has very little tolerance for driver and tow truck stupidity.

I will take the I-shift b4 the fuller
Look that you get the copy of the oil and filter changes
Check is the airdryer/ cartridge is change latest all 12 month... Moister in the airsystem will damage the I-shift
Then there is a small screen on the air outlet from the I-shift it need to change from time to time
